Seaflower Pelagic’s seafood production operations in Walvis Bay
This large-scale industrial processing facility was developed to support Seaflower Pelagic’s seafood production operations in Walvis Bay, a key hub for Namibia’s fishing and marine processing industry. The facility is designed to accommodate high-throughput fish handling, processing, and cold chain operations within a highly controlled industrial environment.
The project was delivered as a complete structural steel solution, covering design, detailing, fabrication, installation, and value-added engineering services. The facility required a robust and efficient steel framework capable of supporting heavy-duty processing equipment, hygiene-sensitive production zones, and continuous operational cycles typical of the seafood industry.
Engineering emphasis was placed on long-span structural efficiency, corrosion resistance for coastal conditions, and adaptable internal layouts to support evolving processing line configurations. The design prioritised operational flow, sanitation requirements, and integration with mechanical and refrigeration systems essential to modern pelagic processing plants.
A value-engineered approach was applied throughout the design phase to optimise steel usage, improve constructability, and ensure efficient installation sequencing. This resulted in a structurally efficient solution aligned with both performance and cost-effectiveness objectives.
All structural steel components were precision-fabricated under controlled workshop conditions to ensure dimensional accuracy and consistent quality standards prior to transport and erection. On-site installation was executed with a focus on programme efficiency and strict compliance with industrial safety requirements.
The Seaflower Pelagic Processing Facility reflects advanced capability in industrial steel construction for the food production sector—delivering durability, hygiene-compatible structural design, and large-scale operational capacity within a demanding coastal processing environment.
