Lemco recently completed a turnkey structural steel project for the Perdekraal East Wind Farm, located in the Ceres region of the Western Cape. Our scope of work encompassed the full lifecycle of the workshop and storage facility — from initial design and structural detailing through to fabrication and on-site erection of the complete steel structure.
The facility was purpose-built to support the operational and maintenance requirements of the wind farm, providing robust workshop space and secure storage for equipment and components associated with the wind turbine generators. The structure was designed to meet the demanding environmental conditions of the Western Cape interior, including high wind loading and exposure requirements specific to the site.
Lemco's value-added services ensured a seamless turnkey delivery, with our teams managing the full project scope under a single point of accountability. Close coordination with the Wind Turbine Generation lifting teams on site allowed the structural works to be executed safely and efficiently alongside the broader wind farm construction programme.
Perdekraal East Wind Farm is now fully operational, with a generation capacity sufficient to power approximately 111 118 South African homes with clean, renewable energy. We congratulate all project stakeholders on this landmark achievement and are proud to have contributed to one of South Africa's significant renewable energy projects under the REIPPPP programme.
