ColdHarvest - Packhouse Extension

Located in the heart of Paarl in the Western Cape winelands, ColdHarvest is a state-of-the-art cold storage and packhouse facility serving producers and exporters across the region. Known for its commitment to quality and reliability, ColdHarvest has established itself as a benchmark facility in the South African agricultural cold chain sector.

LEMCO was appointed as the specialist structural steel contractor to design and supply the packhouse extension — a 2,180m² structural steel building forming part of a broader expansion of the facility's operational capacity.

Our scope of work encompassed the full design and supply of the structural steel frame, delivered as a turnkey solution and executed in close coordination with the broader project team. Working within an operational facility environment required careful planning and sequencing to ensure minimal disruption to ColdHarvest's day-to-day cold storage operations throughout the construction programme.

The extension was designed to meet the specific structural and environmental demands of a cold storage packhouse — including the loading requirements associated with heavy refrigeration plant, forklift traffic, and the thermal movement considerations inherent to cold store construction.

The project was delivered on programme and to the quality standards LEMCO is known for across the agricultural and cold chain sector.
