Industrial Structural Steel for High-Performance Processing Infrastructure

LEMCO was appointed to design, fabricate, supply, and erect the structural steel for the Amawandle Pelagic Boiler House in Velddrif, delivering a high-rise industrial steel structure that supports critical processing infrastructure within a demanding seafood production environment.

Standing approximately 18 metres high, the boiler house forms a vital part of the facility's thermal and utility systems. The structure was engineered to accommodate heavy mechanical equipment, high operating temperatures, and the rigorous demands of continuous industrial operation.

Our turnkey scope included the complete structural steel solution—from engineering design and detailing through to fabrication, transport, and on-site erection. Every element was developed to provide exceptional structural integrity, long-term durability, and safe access for equipment installation and maintenance.

The project's vertical design required careful engineering to ensure stability under dynamic loading conditions while maximising the available footprint within the processing facility. Particular attention was given to integrating plant equipment efficiently without compromising operational safety or structural performance.

All steel components were precision fabricated in LEMCO's manufacturing facility under controlled conditions before being transported for installation. Off-site fabrication ensured consistent quality, improved construction efficiency, and reduced installation time while maintaining strict engineering and safety standards.
